Education & Bible Study

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

How to Be Saved

Sunday School

Our Sunday School at COK continues to be a very successful ministry. We have 85 children enrolled with a weekly average attendance of 43. This year the Lord has again blessed us with many willing and dedicated teachers and helpers. Sunday School classes are offered for children from age 3 through Grade 8. There is also a youth Bible Class which meets during the Sunday School hour. Sunday School runs each Sunday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. from September to the beginning of June.

Regular staff meetings and Saturday morning workshops are held to equip our teachers and to plan activities throughout the year. Other activities which are offered to the children include the Orff Choir, our annual Easter Service at Erin Mills Lodge, and of course, the Children’s Christmas Service.

Children’s Activity Packet

A Children's Activity Packet, based on the Sunday's Scripture Lessons is available for young children each Sunday.

Nursery Care During Service

A Nursery Room is available to parents of infants during our worship services. There is a change table, toys for the children, and a speaker system to allow you to hear the worship service. It is located on the lower Narthex level next to the cloakroom.

Nursery School

The Board of Education is also responsible for our Christ Our King Nursery School, operating weekday mornings at the church. Our Nursery School has a special emphasis on child development and preparation for kindergarten for 2 ˝ to 5 year old children. For further information, please go to the Christ Our King Nursery School Page.

Confirmation Classes

Our grade 7 and 8 Confirmation Class meets with the Pastor on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. During these two year of study the students are encouraged to grow in Scripture, in the knowledge and love of God and in faith in Christ as their Saviour. Together we study the central teachings of the Lutheran church – we are saved by grace through faith in Christ – God planted that faith in me by His Word and Spirit at baptism and continues to make that faith grow – He feeds our faith in the Lord’s Supper where we receive the true body and blood of Christ together with the bread and wine. We also learn to pray together, for ourselves, for each other, for the Church and others. Together we are challenged to live a life of service to Christ and His Church by using our unique Spiritual Gifts for Him. We also grow in fellowship together in the Body of Christ.

In the Wednesday class we use Luther’s Catechism as a companion to the Bible, as well as a catechism workbook. Because the grade sevens and eights attend together, we follow a year-A, year-B cycle. In year A our focus is on the Ten Commandments and Apostles Creed. Year B looks at Baptism, Prayer, Confession and the Lord's Supper.

The class also meets on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour. We are pleased this year to have 11 students in confirmation class, 4 seniors and 7 juniors. Our confirmands assist as acolytes for worship and are encouraged to take part in youth activities. They also help with selected service opportunities for the congregation throughout the year. If you see them with a pencil in hand during worship, they are writing a worship report to be handed in.

 Wednesday Morning Bible Study

The Bible Study group of seniors, meets on the first and third Wednesday morning in a home setting for two hours of study and fellowship.
